He came to be a sacrifice. His life fulfilled old prophecies bringing new meaning to them. All of the things He did came to a culmination in an excruciating death. His life became the picture for our lives to be modeled after, taking up our crosses, sacrificing self for the better cause, all for the ultimate fulfillment in being united once again with the Father. God gave us a gift, and what do we do with it?
I drew a picture this week....I'd like to tell the people who read my blog that I LOVE TO DRAW! I've been drawing since I was little...actually for those of you in Washington who would know...I learned a bit from Aaron Dickson when he was still drawing like crazy. The picture I drew is a picture of the manger scene. While I was drawing it, I was thinking about how Jesus came to earth to die. The shadow of the cross rests within the Nativity. The Messiah, born to set His people free, not from physical bondage, but the bondage of sin through the cross. Will we receive His gift, or will we pretend we have it? Will we accept His sacrifice, or will we try to remain in our false sense of pride? What will we chose to do with the child celebrated by this season?
